LASIK FAQs

You Have Questions, We Have Answers!

We have compiled the following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on LASIK, commonly heard from patients at our practice.

Am I a good candidate?

Most people who meet the general age and health requirements are candidates for LASIK. Our advanced technology can treat a broad range of prescriptions – including mild to severe nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

Is LASIK Safe?

Yes. With any surgical procedure there are risks, but in the hands of our experts using the most advanced technology, the results are excellent.

Will LASIK Hurt?

Most patients experience little to no discomfort during or after their treatment. You may feel a mild pressure sensation that lasts 15-30 seconds during the procedure, but it’s not painful.

What if I have astigmatism?

It’s a common misconception that astigmatism cannot be corrected with LASIK. The reality is, LASIK has been approved by the FDA to correct astigmatism many years ago! LASIK can safely and effectively treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, AND astigmatism.

Can LASIK Correct for Reading Glasses?

LASIK can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism but it cannot correct presbyopia. Presbyopia is a change in the lens inside of your eye that is caused by age that leads to the need for reading glasses. While LASIK cannot correct presbyopia, we do have options that CAN!

What if I move my eye?

Not only does your surgeon have complete control over the laser, but the laser itself is equipped with advanced tracking technology that can follow even the smallest movements for extreme accuracy and precision.
