Clareon® Vivity®
The Clareon®Vivity® Lens allows you to see clearly at far and intermediate distances with functional near vision, so that you can immerse yourself in a full range of activities—all while relying less on glasses.
Clareon® Vivity® is an EDOF IOL, or Extended Depth of Focus intraocular lens. It is a type of lens that is used to replace the natural lens of the eye during cataract surgery. This type of lens is designed to provide a continuous range of vision from near to intermediate with functional near vision, reducing the need for glasses or contact lenses. EDOF lenses work by creating a gentle blending of the light that enters the eye. EDOF lenses are a great option for people who want to reduce their dependence on glasses or contact lenses after cataract surgery.
For Ocala Eye patients struggling with their vision due to cataracts, the Clareon® Vivity® IOL represents a technologically advanced option for those wishing to reduce their dependence on glasses. Like the PanOptix® lens that Ocala Eye offers in our Premium All Focus package, the Vivity® IOL (intraocular lens) is designed to not only give excellent distance and intermediate vision but also allow for functional vision in the near range.
It’s important to also have realistic expectations about your lens. While EDOF lenses can improve vision at multiple distances, they may not completely eliminate the need for glasses or contacts, and some patients may experience visual side effects such as halos or glare.
As with any medical procedure, it is important to consult your Ocala Eye surgeon to determine whether a trifocal lens is the right choice for your specific lifestyle.
Clareon® Vivity® and Insurance
Clareon® Vivity® is an Extended Depth of Focus lens. These types of lenses are considered advanced lenses and are more expensive than the standard monofocal intraocular lenses. Typically, an insurance company will not cover elective parts of cataract surgery, including advanced types of lenses. This means that, if you want this type of lens, you will pay out-of-pocket costs for at least part of the procedure. But if the possibility of reducing the dependence on glasses is important to you, the benefits may outweigh the cost.
Getting Started
One of our highly skilled ophthalmologists will determine if you are a candidate for the Clareon® Vivity® lens. At our North Central Florida, eye care offices, we carefully evaluate each patient, perform a thorough eye examination and review medical history to ensure you are a good candidate for the procedure. The actual surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our Ocala surgery center, and the actual operation takes less than 30 minutes. Your Ocala Eye surgeon will provide you with specific instructions to follow after you receive your new lens implants.
