Ocala Eye Welcomes Dr. Menjivar

Anne M. Menjivar, O.D., M.S. is a Board Certified Optometric Physician and has been practicing optometry since 2008. A specialist in ocular disease and low vision, Dr. Menjivar provides comprehensive eye care to her patients. She joined Ocala Eye in August 2009 after completing her optometry residency at the Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City, Florida.

“It was evident from the first time I visited Ocala Eye that the doctors and staff are very concerned about putting patient care first,” Dr. Menjivar says. “I am impressed with their progressive and comprehensive practice model, and I am excited for the opportunity to become part of the group.”

Dr. Menjivar was raised in Northern Kentucky, staying close to home to attend Northern Kentucky University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She then moved to Columbus, Ohio to enroll in The Ohio State University College of Optometry and completed a Master of Science Degree in Vision Science, focusing her research on binocular vision and school screenings. In June 2008, Dr. Menjivar earned her Doctorate of Optometry.

After completing her doctorate, Dr. Menjivar relocated to Lake City where she expanded upon her clinical experience by practicing at the Lake City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. There she specialized in primary eye care, diagnosing and managing ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She also focused her training on vision rehabilitation, working with low vision and traumatic/acquired brain injury patients.

Dr. Menjivar has presented continuing education lectures at NOVA Southeastern University and local optometric meetings.
Dr. Menjivar holds professional affiliations with the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and North Central Florida Optometric Society.

New! Automated Appointment Confirmations

Your Ocala Eye doctor sees an average of 50 patients a day. With 10 ophthalmologists and two optometrists, that equals a big bundle of patients each day who receive appointment confirmation calls. Beginning August 2008, we will be implementing a full-featured interactive appointment confirmation system that will offer our patients convenient options related to their next visit.

When the House Calls system rings your phone, you will be greeted with an appointment reminder and additional options related to your appointment. These include:

If the House Calls system detects an answering machine, the appointment message will play twice and indicate a call back number that you can use to change any of the appointment details. If there is no answering machine, the system will try an additional call the following day.

Ocala Eye is excited to bring this new convenient appointment reminder system to our patients. We’ll be in touch!
