New! Automated Appointment Confirmations

Your Ocala Eye doctor sees an average of 50 patients a day. With 10 ophthalmologists and two optometrists, that equals a big bundle of patients each day who receive appointment confirmation calls. Beginning August 2008, we will be implementing a full-featured interactive appointment confirmation system that will offer our patients convenient options related to their next visit.

When the House Calls system rings your phone, you will be greeted with an appointment reminder and additional options related to your appointment. These include:

If the House Calls system detects an answering machine, the appointment message will play twice and indicate a call back number that you can use to change any of the appointment details. If there is no answering machine, the system will try an additional call the following day.

Ocala Eye Welcomes Dr. ElMallah

In August 2008 Ocala Eye officially added another superb ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma. Mohammed K. ElMallah, M.D. is the latest ophthalmologist to join the medical staff of the most comprehensive eye care practice in the Heart of Florida. Dr. ElMallah’s practice will comprise glaucoma treatment and surgery as well as cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmic care.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Dr. ElMallah received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and then went on to complete his glaucoma fellowship at Duke University. In addition to his academic and surgical accomplishments, Dr. ElMallah has been a featured speaker at numerous ophthalmology conferences and has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Upon the completion of his medical training, Dr. ElMallah was referred to Ocala Eye by a colleague who put him in touch with glaucoma specialist Michael Morris, M.D. “When I first visited Ocala, I spent some time with Dr. Morris and his fellow physicians at the Ocala Eye Surgery Center. I came away from that first experience extremely impressed,” says Dr. ElMallah. “Each doctor provides excellent care, and is surrounded by highly skilled clinical staff keeping things moving efficiently. This is the basis for providing quality patient care and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I’m very pleased to be associated with Ocala Eye.”

Relocating from North Carolina with his wife and two young children, Dr. ElMallah is looking forward to calling Ocala their new home. “Growing up, I’ve lived all over the country... It feels good to have my family in a nice town where we can make new friendships and be a part of the community.”

Dr. ElMallah will be providing care for the patients of Hina Ahmed, M.D. who is relocating to be closer to her family. Dr. Ahmed will be missed and wishes all of her patients continued good health. “I have met with Dr. ElMallah and he is a wonderful addition to Ocala Eye. Of course I will miss my patients but they will continue to receive excellent care with Dr. ElMallah. I wish him and Ocala Eye all my best.”


New Retina Consultants Office - Now Open!

The renovations are complete, and now Ocala Eye is pleased to announce the opening of our new Retina Consultants location. This new office features more exam rooms, a spacious patient reception area and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.  Dr. Samy and Dr. Kraut began seeing patients at the new Ocala Eye Retina Consultants building on January 28, 2008.  This new facility located at 3130 SW 32nd Avenue is where all current and future Ocala Eye retina appointments are conducted.
